If you are the type of person who wears the same makeup everyday and seldom mixes it up, then summer makeup might be a new concept for you. However, if you think of it in terms of fashion, changing your makeup based on the season really makes sense. Why would you want to wear layers of foundation when you’re wearing shorts and a t-shirt? That full coverage would seem better suited with your winter coat, jeans, and boots.
When it’s 100 plus degrees in Arizona, it would be crazy to wear too many layers of clothing. You would nearly die of heat stroke. The same is true for your makeup. Just the thought of thick foundation melting down my face in 110 degrees just sounds…horrible. Since it’s hard to go all natural, you have to remember that “less is more” with makeup – just like clothing.
The following are my favorite wearable and trendy products for summer:
Stila CC Color Correcting Cream
This lightweight product stays on, moisturizes, covers and has an SPF of 20. Add a little concealer under your eyes and your skin will look great on hot summer days.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Balms
I love these lip balms by Fresh because they feel amazing on dry lips and give you a little color. They are low maintenance but provide great beauty results plus have an SPF of 15. Sunscreen is important throughout the year but more so in the summer. The more products with sun protection the better!
Tarte Cheek Stain
During the summer, gel cheek products look more fresh and lightweight on the skin than powder. Tarte’s Cheek Stain is a fan favorite. It’s easy to use and comes in a variety of colors.
Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel
Instead of a fully defined eyebrow, try something a little more natural. Use Anastasia’s Tinted Brow Gel to provide just a hint of color that stays put throughout the day.
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo
I love the bold, long wearing colors of these cream eye shadows. You can apply them on your eyes for a melt proof shadow look. You can also use an eyeliner brush to apply a trendy colored eyeline.
Investing in a new summer makeup wardrobe might seem daunting. So here’s two tips on how you can get creative with the makeup you already own. Mix foundation with a little moisturizer to thin it out for summer. You can create your own tinted lip balm by mixing Chapstick with your favorite shade of lipstick.
Try to avoid wasting makeup that is going to melt off in a few hours. It’s not worth your time or money. It would be better to save those products for the fall and winter seasons where you’ll get a full day’s wear.
