Dr. Oz Gets Called Out for Lying – It’s About Time!

I’d like to personally thank the Senate for calling Dr. Oz a liar today.  For the last several months his “weight loss” pills have been all over the Internet.  If you haven’t seen these magic pills, count yourself lucky.  They are NOT miracle pills that will drop all the weight off your body, nor will some of the products he claims magically get rid of your wrinkles.

dr. oz claims

I have found it frustrating over the last few years to see so many women rush to the beauty stores to purchase product after product that is endorsed by Dr. Oz.  He claims to be an expert on everything.  He’s even provided expert advice on makeup and yet he’s not a makeup artist!  Imagine that.  This OZ-effect has people rushing to the stores.  If he said peanut butter takes away wrinkles, I swear women across the country would stock up.

Even worse, is the language he uses when he talks about the products and diets he suggests (most of which he doesn’t implement for his own lifestyle).  He gives women the idea that his suggestions are instant fixes or MIRACLE workers.

I loved what Senator McCaskill said about this:

“When you call a product a miracle, and it’s something you can buy and it’s something that gives people false hope, I just don’t understand why you need to go there.”

opal anti aging

Are all of Dr. Oz’s product suggestions bad?  Probably not.  I personally love the Peter Thomas Roth skincare line that he recommends.  However, I know that the Clairsonic Opal he suggests for anti-aging that I bought my mom for Mother’s Day last year was a waste of $185.  I also know that according to reports most women who have taken the Dr. Oz diet pills are victim’s of fraud not weight loss.  This is just another unfortunate example of celebrity’s and the power of advertising.  It’s important to be aware as a consumer and shop smart.

  1. My coder is trying to persuade me to move to .net from
PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.
But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on various websites for about a year and am concerned about switching to another platform.
I have heard very good things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can import all my wordpress posts into it?
Any help would be really appreciated!

  2. First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.

I was interested to know how you center yourself and
clear your head prior to writing. I have had trouble clearing
my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are lost just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or hints?
    Cheers!
