My son Harvey has the best eyelashes. I can’t tell you the number of times people have asked me where he got those from. Apparently not me! I’ve always thought my lashes were decent, so I decided to compare my toddler pictures with Harvey’s. From the pictures I concluded the following. Harvey’s lashes MIGHT be better than mine, or maybe just darker. Or perhaps my phone takes better pics than the cameras did when I was a child! HA!
In all seriousness, I am obsessed with Harvey’s lashes and think he’s the most beautiful kid on the planet. Sorry to be one of the moms! But I also think my own eyelashes are ok too. I’ve never felt the need to wear false ones, I didn’t use an eyelash curler until college, and it’s only been recently that I’ve wondered if I could have better lashes. Since I have lighter eyes and I’m weary of Latisse side effects (and the cost), I figured I would try the $8 Rimmel lash serum.
My Eyelash Concerns
When I purchased the serum, I had the following concerns with my lashes:
- Weird growth – some lashes would grow down or get tangled with other ones. They irritated me constantly.
- Too light – mine are very blonde compared to my brows and hair color
- Not as much curl as they used to have
- Lacking life
Achieving Healthy Lashes
Since I didn’t pay $100 for Latisse, I wasn’t expecting a miracle product. But, I was hoping for healthier lashes. When you compare your lashes to the other hairs on your body, they take a TON of abuse. Imagine if you put layers of wax on your hair each day and then stripped it off wish a remover. Do you think you would be able to maintain a full head of hair???? It’s no wonder most women lose their eyelashes as they age.
I have gone through phases of using this product and not using it. I can totally tell the difference between the times when I use it and the times when I don’t. If I apply it before bedtime, my mascara looks so much better the next day. If I forget, my lashes don’t look as good. It’s that simple. Even better, the lash serum has resolved my eyelash concerns. The best part is I am starting to notice darker color coming in at the roots of my lashes. Hallelujah. Maybe the color will reach the tips sometime!! This might help me look better when I visit Target with no mascara – a regular occurrence when you are a busy mom on the go.
I think everyone deserves better lashes. If you don’t want to take the time to apply the serum, you can try the mascara. It’s a great two-in-one alternative.
