Doing a makeover for the red carpet usually takes an hour. That may seem like a lot of time for a busy mom or working woman. However, applying flawless foundation, contouring the face, layering eye shadow to perfection and adding in 20 plus individual lashes on each eye takes time! It’s no wonder celebrities look amazing. It’s so unfortunate when they end up on the worst dressed list or nominated as beauty disasters for the night. Sometimes, one bad photo on the red carpet is all it takes to ruin a celebrities’ credibility. They have to be smart about what they wear, who they trust to help them and more.
Working behind the scenes helping a celebrity get ready for the Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes, etc. can be fun, stressful, exhilarating, emotional, and tiring. But there is nothing more rewarding then seeing your work on the good list!
All of us want to feel red carpet ready when we do our own makeup. We want to be on the best dressed list which includes flawless makeup. Being assured we aren’t committing any makeup faux pas, we can feel confident stepping out of our front doors with our best face forward.
The biggest makeup faux pas I notice people make is choosing the wrong blush. Nars Orgasm is arguably the best selling blush and is probably the worst for you. Shimmer on your cheeks does nothing to flatter your face. It only accentuates your cheeks making them look larger. Chubby cheeks are only cute on kids. After childhood, most women want to know how to get rid of them. Shimmer is NOT the answer.
A better alternative is a matte blush. Mac Cosmetics makes a great one in a color called Melba. It will create a natural flush in your cheeks.
If you want to use shimmer, apply it on your cheekbones with my favorite all over shimmer palette called Kitten by Stila. This will draw attention to the cheekbones, making your face look slimmer.
